Beautiful Day

Today has been one of those days that I am dreading the end of. It's been such a lovely day. We went to the 7:30 am Mass, since Peter was the primary lector at that service. When we came home, he made homemade waffles (yes, my hubs makes food from scratch... he's such a package. I love cooking with him. He doesn't mind the work that goes into a good dish and, even though we cant cook together right now, he's still all about making it good.) and we had breakfast together. Then, we curled up for a movie (and I promptly fell asleep- he's just so darn comfortable!). After a dinner of yummy leftovers, we decided to enjoy some of the day. Peter pushed me in the wheelchair to the edge of our driveway (it's a pretty big drive) and I read from Ina May's Guide to Childbirth for a bit while Peter weeded, then, we just sat and talked. We talked about all sorts of things: babies, grief, our life together, a little bit of everything, really. We often sit and talk. It's one of the things I love most about our marriage and friendship. And to be able to just enjoy an hour and a half of sitting under my favorite trees, in the beautiful 78 degree day, with a warm breeze and the birds singing... It was wonderful. Just wonderful.

We're back inside and Peter is washing laundry and researching new computers (his was bought and put together in 1999 and has been upgraded until it cant be upgraded any longer, so this will be a new computer year for both of us!). But, other than the last half hour, we've been together and just enjoying one another today. He's offered to wheel me to the park or to the store to pick up some necessities, if I am up for it, or said he will go to the store and come back as quickly as he can. We will see how the evening progresses.

It has been such a wonderful holiday weekend, just being with Peter. Especially today. I wish we had another!

Hope everyone in the States has had a good Independence Day weekend, and that, elsewhere, your July is as lovely as it is here in PA!

I am glad you had a nice relaxing day. It is so nice when your husband takes good care of you. I especially love when they do the cooking:)

How wonderful to share a beautiful day with your husband. He is a keeper! We had a great 4th. Our children came over for the day and it was wonderful. Since we live up high with a city light view we are able to see fireworks in about 12 different areas. They are not close up but last nights seemed to be extra special with the almost full moon. It made things clearer then previous years. Fun!

Where have I been?
gosh darn Michele, first, I am glad you had a good day-- and that all is beautiful.

And this season, of layers of memory and hope must be so complicated emotionally- I want to be able to say something supportive, to say I honor the intertwining of before and now, of your children, their birthdays, anniversary dates....

and you! your July 1 visit to the doctor and the knowledge that your stitch is firmly in place and your little ones are happily swimming-- I wish you peace in this bedrest time. I hope that everything continues to go well--

thinking of you!
happy halfway! and brave new world. I hope there is magic in every day.

warmly,
Kate
