Make Your Voice Heard

I just saw this on another blog and I am outraged. Apparently, a recommendation in the UK is that parents be encouraged not to see or hold their stillborn babies. I would imagine this also applies to babies like mine, who, although they lived a short term, were very preterm. This pisses me off like no other. Please visit and sign the petition and, if you have lost a child, let them know just how important it is for parents to be encouraged to bond with their babies.

I signed the petition! I could not imagine if I never had the chance to see or hold my sweet babies!

That is terrible. I never even knew until I started my For Your Tears blog and I can see how important it is to hold them.

Wow, this is how they thought in the 50's. Did they consult, I don't know, ANY psychologists?

What??? This is inSANE! I was blessed to have Madelyn alive for a short time too, but I would've wanted to hold her either way! We held her LONG after she had passed, and my biggest regret is not keeping her longer! This is ridiculous...

What a shame. My husband's mother had suffered a stillbirth many, many years ago. When we phoned them to share the news we'd lost our daughter and would be delivering her the next day, my husbands parents suggested that he not hold her, lest he get too attached. This advice really affected him during a very vulnerable time. He did opt to hold our daughter many times in the short day we had with her, and has never regretted it,but I often wonder how he'd feel now if he'd taken that advice and had not held our daughter...I'm grateful guidelines here strongly encourage holding and spending time with our infants...
