Eggs, Votes, Assessments, Quads, Dreams, and Belly Laughs

What a busy weekend...

I have to admit that I woke up with a sick stomach thanks to some spineless congressmen.  I mean, let's face it, I'm no fan of our current administration (and I couldnt stand the last one either, so I guess I'm just full of unhappiness about the state of American politics), but waking up this morning to my inbox really put me in a sour mood...  Of course, I blog for our parish's Respect Life group and have already posted some new info to that page, so I suppose I will digress...

Sunday, we hosted an egg hunt!  Peter and I had decided quite a bit ago that Easter would not include a bunny or eggs.  Those, in our opinion, belong on the Spring Equinox.  So, we hosted an Equinox Egg Hunt!  Quite a few folks joined us for lunch, egg dying, and "the hunt".  It was loads of fun (and, of course, we "helped" Bobby and Maya with their candy...) :)

This morning, we had the NICU assessment for the twins.  They run a developmental clinic where they ask all NICU parents to bring their children for assessment.  Not only does this determine what sort of help your child might need, but it also gives the NICU statistical information.  Although we think Bobby and Maya are doing well, I will admit my nerves... I mean, you never know...

Our pediatrician had told me that the kids were doing great and that they were passing their six month milestones like full term infants, so to try not to worry.  And... she was so... RIGHT!  The specialists and doctor were looking for them to perform at 2mo-3mo and they measured 4mo-6mo!!!  YES!!!  And they werent even fully cooperating!  Maya refused to "talk" and neither would roll over, and yet, they still did soooo well!  They said that we are doing very well and that the babies are doing far beyond what they expected.  They were thrilled that the kids can stand and are trying steps.  They loved that they sit so well and play with objects.  I didnt realize until after they were telling us what was going right, that I was holding my breath!

They were also really interested in our infant homeschooling.  I actually received 2 copies of "The Joyful Child", so I'm going to send one to the clinic, since they were familiar with Montessori and said that they didnt have anything on infant schooling.  All in all, it was such a relief and I am just so happy.  We are due back in three months.  (To be part of the statistical counting, we had to agree to come down every three months until the kids are 2 years old, then every year until they are six years old.)

Because I was in her general area, I visited my friend who is pregnant with quads.  She looks great!  She is on strict bedrest and is such a trooper!  We are all praying and hoping for at least 7 more weeks, but the more, the better!  If you get a chance, pop by her blog and make her smile with your wit!

Dont worry- I'm not pregnant.  But I've been having some interesting dreams.  Very movie-like...  And so vivid that I think about them when I'm awake.  Interesting.  This usually happens when I dont have time to let my "creative" side run wild with pen and paper.  I'll have to look into making some time for that...

I was reading to the kids tonight, a book called My Little Sister Ate One Hare, and Bobby was falling all over himself laughing!  I thought he was going to make himself sick!  I ended up reading the story twice because he fussed once it was over!!!  I highly recommend it... Just not for a bedtime story!

And, speaking of bedtime, I think it is time for me to turn in.  I am so tired!

Michelle,

I have enjoted your writings from afar, never wanting to intrude, or push my opinions along on things, but this morning I just HAD to comment. If Bobby isnt the spitting image of your husband in todays post - then I dont know how you could get any closer!! Thanks for sharing your stories, and all the beautiful pictures!

Your kids sound like developmental superstars! So wonderful!

I don't agree with 100% of the bill's provisions either, but I was happy to see the adoption tax credit had been increased by $1000 and its retirement date was extended to 12/11.
