Updates and Good News!

Info is still sporadically coming in, but as of right now things seem to be really well.  My SIL was approximately 33 weeks with the girls but it really looks like they are doing great.  They are breathing on their own and, although they have IVs and temp/HB probes, they look very healthy. I'll update as I get more information and I am so thankful for your thoughts and prayers for my nieces and our family.  (My dad this morning said that he's sure my mom and stepdad have had enough worry over the last 2 years that they are probably just so relieved to have no child pregnant at this very moment!).

My beautiful nieces weighed over four pounds each, which puts them out of the woods for a lot of preemie issues. Sophia (yes, Sophia :) ) was born first and weighed 4lbs 6oz.  Her twin sister, Grace, weighed in at 4lbs 2oz. Grace, especially, looks like my step-dad and brother.  Both girls are just beautiful...  I keep telling Maya that she now has two cousins who are light skinned and light haired too!  She's not alone in the fair department any longer!

And, speaking of my monkeys...  They eat like little champs!  They have solids at lunch and dinner, plus their bottles.  They've moved into stage 2 foods, as well... (seems like just yesterday we were talking about starting solids and now... stage 2).  Last night was our first stage 2 day.  They had pears mixed with rice cereal for lunch (with water to drink and then regular bottles), followed by mixed vegetables mixed with barley cereal for dinner (with pear juice/water to drink and then regular  bottles).  They still get oatmeal or barley bottles during the day plus a rice bottle at night.  Today, for lunch, I opted for peaches and oatmeal.  Bobby hated it! I mean, HATED.  This kid loves his food and he spit every single bite out.  Maya, on the other hand, dug her peaches (deep down, she's a southern girl, just like mama!).  So, Maya had peaches and oatmeal, while Bobby got plain bananas.  They both liked their pear juice/water mix and, of course, their bottles.  And, I have a passed out princess on my arm, while PawPaw is rocking a sleeping prince across the room.  Not sure what dinner will be...  I have quite the babyfood selection, LOL... Perhaps risotto and fall vegetables?  (Why the heck arent their grown up foods all squared away like this???)

Well, my heart is relieved that M and S's girls are doing well.  Hearing about anyone going into preterm labor makes my heart ache and worry.  I was leaving church when my mom called to tell me and my heart just about stopped.  They were due to c/s in mid-April and all I could think of was "It's too soon...".  Even knowing that many triplet and quad moms expect to go in the early 30s, it still terrified me.  I dont think that anyone who's ever had PTL or loss isnt worried.  Even when expectations are good.  I am just so grateful for everyone's prayers and warm thoughts.  Really.

Time to put these little ones down and go clean up the kitchen.  Post lunch and dinner clean-ups are best before the food dries all over their bebepods (which ROCK) and my counters.

I'm so happy the twins are doing well! Those are great weights, by the way--your SIL is a champ!

So many new grandbabies in your family :) Now I'm going to go have some fruit because you made me hungry for some!

I'm so happy for your brother and SIL! I love those names - those were both on our list, as they're so lovely (obviously, as you know!).

great news about your nieces! and glad the babies like their food! cute little pod too. we have a bumbo which looks kind of like that. we've always had the best luck feediner naomi in her highchair, though. it's like she knows when she's sitting in there that it's food time.

I'm so relieved your nieces are doing so well. What beautiful, beautiful names.

Glad that Bobby and Maya are loving their food (well, apart from a rather mixed reception to the peaches!)

I am so so so SO thrilled that the girls are doing well!! Woo hoo! Wishing them all the success in the NICU and a speedy journey home.

My friend lost one of her twins and then had the other at 30 weeks (who is an awesome 2 1/2 year old now). She said she can never relax when someone is pregnant, she constantly worries for them -- especially with twins. She said she reads my blog but doesn't want to comment because she's always so concerned. I don't that trauma ever leaves.
