24w (Day 24)

Woo Hoo!!! We have officially arrived at 24w and into the third trimester!!! I had my steroid injection at 6:30am (because, really, when is something ever "on time"). For those expecting them, I didn't find them to be a painful injection; the P17's are worse. We iced, pinched, and in the needle went. The betamethasone isnt as viscous as the progesterone, so the burning was very mild. Afterwards, we put on the heat and then it was a tad uncomfortable. Muscle tightening, that sort of thing, but after 10 minutes, nothing. I got up and sat down to shower: nada. And now, I'm back to bed, clean and ready for the day. (On the agenda: bed, bed, and more bed!)

The Resident came in to check on us (Dr M is on rounds, so she will be in shortly, I'm sure). The HB monitoring is from now on going to be 1 hour every 8 hours (plus the 1 hour contraction monitoring).

Peter has scanned in ultrasound pictures for your viewing pleasure from July 23-Aug 12. Click here to go to the picture blog (there are just so many.) I will only post 2, from the most recent scan.

I've started my new journal (the baby journal I had ran out of pages yesterday, so the third trimester will actually begin journal#2, kind of funny how it works out that way). So far, things are really well today (I mean, it is only 8:15am, but still...) We are about to have breakfast and enjoy the day together.

To Anonymous in Mass: thank you for the sweet card; it really made my day yesterday, as I was struggling with my emotions.

Well, breakfast is here!

  1. HOORAY for 24 weeks!! I am glad your steroid injections weren't too bad. I have heard the PIO shots are unpleasant ... not looking forward to those.

I love your captions on the US pictures by the way. =) Cheering you on through your next two weeks (and beyond)!

  3. My eyes whelm with tears of happiness for you Michele. I know how much of a relief it is to reach 24 weeks, I remember the feeling well.

What kind of journals do you use? I love to know how other people remember their babies! I know you have journals for all the babies, do you just write in them or do you include other things in them too?

  25. Hi Michele, I'm a Michelle also (plus an extra L) and i stumbled across your blog while i was doing some research for my little boy. he's 3 months old and I've barely had any good sleep at all since his arrival. The sleep deprivation robs me of strength and i sometimes forget why I had Hayden in the first place. I cried buckets over your beautifully written birth stories and am now reading through your other entries. I'm praying for you, congrats on reaching 3rd trimester. Good luck super woman.
